Save the dates - Scholastic Referees!

We just finished the Fall 2023 Scholastic Season – however plans are well under way for the Spring 2024 Scholastic Season.

An “Event” is listed in your ArbiterSports account – to indicate that you are interested in working the Spring 2024 Scholastic Season – please accept or decline.   Accepting at this time does not commit you to anything – it just gives us a number that are interested for planning purposes (number of badges, food for the banquet, etc., etc.)

Save the Dates.

Dec 7 via Zoom.  We will hold a Scholastic Open House.  For anyone that has never worked Scholastic Games and may be interested.  We will review the unique certification requirements and the schools (public and private) that we cover.  We currently have 50 public schools and 68 private and middle schools under contract.

January 30 at Benedictine High School.  This is our annual Scholastic Pre-Season Meeting and Banquet.  Attending a pre-season meeting is mandatory and we (CVSRA) do that with a fully catered banquet.

February 8 via Zoom.  This is the training for a 2-person system of control.  Many of the Scholastic games use only 2 referees.  Training that is not provided in the USSF courses.  All of our middle schools and of division 3 private schools use this system.  It is also used for the public or private high schools in a pinch, as club linesman are not allowed for Scholastic Games.

February 13 at J.R. Tucker High School.  This is our annual Coaches/Referees Symposium.  All area Varsity Coaches and Referees that work or wish to work Varsity level matches attend the same training session.  This is to ensure we are all on the “same page” going forward with the season.

February 15 at TBD (to be determined – and more than likely at a public library).  This will be the “Make-Up” Scholastic Pre-Season Meeting for those that can’t make or missed the Event of January 30.

TBA (to be announced) the annual VHSL Virginia High School League) Rules Clinic and VHSL Rules Test.  Both of these will be held on-line this year.  These dates will be released as soon as VHSL publishes them.
